Why this matters
Pennsylvania requires certification from the state Department of Environmental Protection for anyone who performs radon testing or mitigation professionally. Verify a provider's certification through the PA DEP directory before any work is performed, or see what radon actually is and how it gets into a home.

Radon has been documented locally, too
In 2019, CBS21 (Local21 News) investigated how few Pennsylvania school districts test for radon, since the state has no law requiring it. As part of that reporting, Central York School District told CBS21 that when it had tested its buildings, some of the initial results came back elevated; after retesting and adjustments to the HVAC systems, the levels came down below the applicable standard.
